This men’s watch offering from Hublot features a stainless steel fixed bezel with a brushed and polished stainless steel strap secured to your wrist with a push button fold over clasp. The black dial is protected by a sapphire scratch resistant crystal. This watch features no screw down crown and an automatic movement. The Hublot Big Bang 38 mm Black Dial Men’s Watch 365.SX.1170.SX is powered by the Hublot Caliber 1110 that beats at 28,800 vph. It contains 28 jewels and an approximated power reserve of up to 42 hours. As its name suggests the case is 38 mm. All the while being water resistant to up to 100 meters. The case center edge is a matching black composite resin to the matte black dial. The minutes and hour hands are half-skeletal brushed stainless steel with luminous tips. As one might expect from Hublot the screws and the 5-minute markers are the characteristic H shape.

This is one of Hublot’s more understated models though the price of which suggests anything but subdued minimalism. The materials of this watch are not extraordinary in that it is almost entirely stainless steel. There is no titanium bezel or elaborate tachymeter and there are definitely no jewels and gems embedded in the case material. These characteristics or the lack of are not necessarily to be held against this quality timepiece as the quality of the movement and its ability to keep time is what is most important in buying a watch. Hublot’s craftsmanship is rarely in question, however considering the manufacturer list price of $8,700 is rather steep for this simpler model. It would appear that what you are paying for in this case is the reputable automatic engine powering the watch and indeed the Hublot name itself.

Any watch that surpasses the 1K mark especially appeals to a very specific customer. To that affluent and lavish customer this Big Bang 38 mm watch is a more casual option than other watches Hublot offers or any other high quality and high priced manufacturer of watches. To the less affluent, more average customer this is an extravagant piece. Or rather, extravagantly priced piece. The look is typical, the craftsmanship is dependable, but the price is a tad overwhelming, this is an everyday watch for those it is marketed to. To the rest of us, due entirely to the high cost, this regular looking watch becomes a special occasion piece. If you can afford this watch then by all means it is a safe purchase but if you are splurging then look elsewhere.
