Best known for crafting impressive timepieces, Hublot is a name synonymous with prestige, power and substance. The King Power Oceanographic 4000 Men’s Watch 731.NX.1190.RX is not only prestigious, powerful and substantive, but innovative as well. With an unprecedented water resistance of up to four thousand meters, this timepiece pushes the envelope on the world of divers’ watches. This astounding capability is only the first in a wide range of features that make it both a diver’s best friend and a great conversation piece for those who prefer dry land.

While there are thousands of watches available for divers, I think it’s pretty safe to say that none of them can really compete with this one. With its remarkable ability to keep water out and withstand the pressure at thirteen thousand feet under the surface, its helium gas escape valve (to ensure that the watch doesn’t explode during the decompression that occurs as a diver resurfaces), and its hands and hour markers that glow in the dark, the 731.NX.1190.RX is truly a specialty watch.

Some other noteworthy features include:
• Durable, scratch-resistant sapphire crystal—6.5 mm thick
• Anti-reflective coating
• Grade 2 titanium screw back case
• Two screw down crowns
• Changeable clip-on bracelet
• Date function
• Swiss made

Now that all of this is starting to sink in, I’m sure there are some of you who are at this very moment envisioning this watch on your wrist, and there are probably others of you who are still unsure about it.

For the people who still aren’t sure, here are some pros:
• Solid construction and tough as nails materials make it difficult to break
• Definitely don’t have to worry about taking it off when swimming or showering
• Practical for deep sea divers, and seriously neat-looking for the rest

And for every guy who is absolutely convinced that this is his next purchase, consider these cons:
• People with smaller wrists, look out—as this watch needs to function under immense pressure (literally), it is very thick and very big (48 mm case size)
• Price—retailing at $21,800 this is a timepiece the average person won’t be able to easily afford
• Availability—this is a limited edition item, and only 1,000 were ever made, so getting your hands on could possibly be more difficult than expected

This watch is unique in its ability to perform at depths deeper than the human body can naturally withstand. Because of its superhuman capabilities, it certainly does have a significant cool factor. So if you’re looking for a novelty watch for your next timepiece, or if you are a serious diver looking for practicality, and you have the money for it, I’d say that this member of the Hublot King Power collection is right for you.
